Minnesota Future City Competition

Future City is a project-based program where students in grades 6-8 imagine, research, design, and build cities of the future.

Schools or recognized youth organizations can form teams. Student teams are guided by a teacher and an engineer mentor.

Teams work from September to January to complete 5 projects: virtual city design, city essay, physical city model, team presentation, and project plan. You can learn more here about the competition's deliverables here.

Minnesota Future City culminates at the regional competition on January 18, 2020 at Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount.

The 2019-2020 theme is Clean Water: Tap Into Tomorrow. Teams will choose a threat to their city’s water supply and design a resilient system to maintain a reliable supply of clean water.
